SUMMER 2016 STUDENT INTERNSHIP PROGRAM ANNOUNCED

Some information that would be of use to all our IEEE Foothill Section students looking for some relevant engineering experience before graduation follows. We, the IEEE Foothill Section EXCOM, will post additional such notices as the information becomes available.
STUDENT ENGINEER PROGRAM — SUMMER 2016 INTERNSHIPS
The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) is currently accepting applications for its Summer 2016 Student Engineer Program (SEP).
The goal of the SEP is to provide college engineering students an experiential job training opportunity, including career mentoring, theoretical and technical instruction, and complete project-related, infrastructure work tasks. Student Engineers will be paired with LADWP engineers and work in technical teams within the Water, Power and Joint systems of the organization.
The SEP eligibility requirements and employment application are available at: http://www.ladwp.com/sep. The deadline to submit a completed application is January 22, 2016. Successful applicants will be notified of their selection by the end of February. Work assignments will be arranged to commence upon conclusion of the student’s academic year. Student engineers will be hired for summer internship work in these following categories:
(Based upon past summers internships, estimates are that 15 students total will be hired Summer 2016.)
Computer Networks and Security
Construction Management and Inspection
Instrumentation and Controls
Power Distribution Engineering
Power Transmission Design
Water Distribution Engineering
Water Resources Engineering
