Technical Talk Planned for Foothill MTT / APS Chapter
We will be presenting a technical talk of immediate interest to all involved with the current electromagnetics areas-of-interest later this Fall on the topic of “Near Field Antenna Measurements”. Dr Fwu-Jih Hsu will provide his expertise on this topic, which he has pursued for many years at NGC in Redondo Beach CA. Dr Hsu will address the why’s and How’s of making these precise measurements, with a comprehensive look at the compact indoor ranges and the mathematical background for these measurements. He will discuss their application to satellite communications, where problems of pointing accuracy, noise, probe alignment, and environmental factors must all be considered. Some generic types of results will be presented for our audience’s interest. We will also be examing shorter range wireless communication antennas, where antenna measurements and environmental factors can readily impact wireless quality-of-service figures of merit (think drop-outs).
Please notify your colleagues, and all our Foothill Section IEEE students of this upcoming event. Further details of the meeting will be posted as soon as they are finalized.
