Abstract
What is intelligence? And what is artificial intelligence? How did it start and more importantly, what does it do and how do we use it? This presentation will overview these questions and more. We will discuss what are the various types of Artificial Intelligence (AI), how they are implemented, and how they are helpful, with some examples. This is not about programming but rather about knowledge and how it can be obtained. How do we convert data into information and then into knowledge. How is this being done today and how does it infringe upon our privacy. This is an expanding area and needs to be addressed.
About the Speaker

He has additional course work in Computational BioScience, Computer Science, statistical design methodology, and design analysis simulation experiments. Dr. Morantz has published and presented on neural networks, multiprocessing mathematics, biologically inspired computing architecture, and on data-mining. His current research is in autonomous intelligent systems. He is currently tech fellow for Prime Solutions Group of Phoenix, AZ. Election News
Any member in the Foothill Computer Society who wants to become the 2013 Vice Chair, please let me know.
Bill Grist has expressed his willingness in becoming the 2013 Chair, and I thank him for that.
An election just prior to the AI presentation will take place during the IEEE Foothill Section Computer Society Chapter meeting at DeVry University Pomona, on October 25th., from 7:25 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
For me, it has been very rewarding being the 2011 and 2012 Chair, and I want to thank everyone (the CS members) for their help in forming our CS Chapter during 2011, and for their continued support.
A big thank-you to Bill Grist for his help and to Frank Freyne for his guidance!
Best,
César A. Vásquez-Carrera
