Network (LAACN) in presenting:
LINKEDIN IS COMPULSORY EVEN FOR ENGINEERS
Synopsis:
LinkedIn is one of the largest Social networks out there with 175 million members worldwide.
Most people think that LinkedIn is just for job seekers but in reality it the best
business development tool out there and looking for a job is just part of the possibilities.
During the past 4 years I have taught over 2000 people how to use LinkedIn and realized
that most people don’t brand themselves very well and are not aware of the variety of
functionality that LinkedIn offers. Hopefully after this meetig you will take away at
least one new insight and use it to your advantage.
Bio:
Sven Johnston is the VP of Strategic Partnership for GigaSavvy – a marketing firm that
specializes in Search Engine Optimization, Social Media Marketing and Web Design &
Development. In the past 17 years he has worked for Fortune 500 companies all the way down
to small entrepreneurial businesses in Germany, Australia and the US. He is responsible
for building long-term relationships with direct clients as well as forging strategic
partnerships with Advertising Agencies, PR and Web design companies.
In 2009, Sven decided to take on LinkedIn and started a campaign to give Orange County its
own location code on the very popular social business platform. To support his campaign he
founded a group called “We are Orange County!” which currently has over 6700 members.
After using social and traditional media for over 5 months he finally succeeded and
LinkedIn gave into the pressure creating a new location code for Orange County.
