Presentation Summary:
Just what is “Intelligent Music Software”? Our speaker will adopt the convention that, “Intelligent Music Software makes decisions that aid the user”. Professor Keller will make the assertion that “Any behaviors of current software that seem to be intelligent are results of the (meta-) intelligence of the software’s designers.” He will explain what such intelligent software consists of as well as give an overview of the specific software program that he has been developing for several years(since 2005) . The program is intelligent Jazz improvisation music software called Impro-Visor and is currently open source.
Our Speaker: Professor Robert Keller:
Professor Keller has been on the faculty of Harvey Mudd College since 1991, having previously held faculty positions with Princeton University, the University of Utah, and the University of California, Davis, as well as having worked in the software industry and with various government laboratories. He has broad interests in computer science, and teaches in areas such as computability and logic, software development, and neural networks. He is an active jazz musician and plays the piano and trumpet in bands in southern California. He also teaches a course in jazz improvisation at the Claremont Colleges.
This presentation will be held on March 6th, 2014 in Yeager Center, Room 110, California Baptist University, 8432 Magnolia Ave, Riverside, CA 92504
From 7:00-9:00pm, with ample time for Q&A provided.
Parking is readily available in front of the Yaeger Center on the California Baptist University campus.
