IEEE Foothill Society, Power & Energy Society in collaboration with IEEE Calpoly student PES chapter hosted a talk by Roger Fenton on the interesting development of Electric Power generation and associated development of Business in the Inland Empire. The interesting innovation of Arclights lighting the streets of NY. The story behind the Washington Naval Oranges getting transported to Inland Empire. The development of motors to provide cool storage for the citrus industry. The developments of the two big hydro plants at Big Creek and Mill Creek. The development of Rail Road providing a safe transportation in the area. The story behind conversion of power supply frequency from 50 Hz to 60 Hz. Roger Fenton walked the audience through the intersting story of development of transformers, generation and transmission right from the year 1907.
