Can software “create” music; at least musical compositions that a reasonable person can listen to? that has some characteristics that differentiate it from near-random noise? Or, can software be better used as an “useful AIDE” in helping a knowledgeable musician make new compositions?
Please plan to come hear how Professor Robert Keller describes his work on developing software for Music.

Presentation Summary:
Just what is “Intelligent Music Software”? Our speaker will adopt the convention that, “Intelligent Music Software makes decisions that aid the user”. Professor Keller will make the assertion that “Any behaviors of current software that seem to be intelligent are results of the (meta-) intelligence of the software’s designers.” He will explain what such intelligent software consists of as well as give an overview of the specific software program that he has been developing for several years(since 2005) . The program is intelligent Jazz improvisation music software called Impro-Visor and is currently open source.
