On Monday, November 07, 2016 IEEE Foothills Section and the Leadership Excellence Aspiration Platform (LEAP) hosted a former Google Executive, Dr. Richard Liu, for a keynote speaking: Take a giant leap into your future STEM career. Dr. Liu’s presence – along with the guarantee of free food – opened the doors for an unprecedented crowd of engineering and computer science students that were hungry for knowledge and pizza.
During the event, the LEAP local section at Cal Poly Pomona had its opening event – Career Panel: Take a Professional LEAP Forward: From Campus to Real World. The panelist included the keynote speaker Dr. Richard Liu, IEEE Foothill chair Max Cherubin, IEEE Foothill Secretary Professor Gerald Herder, IEEE Foothill Electron Devices, Circuit and System Society Chapter Chair (EDCAS) Dr. Jenny Yu, President of LEAP Dr. Yutao He, Cal Poly Pomona IEEE president Shawn Bahr, Vice President of LEAP Lini Mestar, and President of LEAP Joanna Sarkisian. The panelist shared personal experiences with the students; their insights and recommendations for the students were fabulous. Students said the comments were so impactful and timely; they gained valuable information from this event.
