ANNOUNCEMENT
IEEE FOOTHILL SECTION
IEEE-USA PERSPECTIVE FROM WASHINGTON D.C.
A DISCUSSION OF CURRENT FEDERAL POLICY AND POLITICAL DEVELOPMENTS ON CAPITOL HILL
OUR SPEAKER—MS ALINE MCNAULL,
LEGISLATIVE REPRESENTATIVE, IEEE-USA
THURSDAY EVENING JULY 27, 2017
6:30 PM TO 9:00 PM
DEVRY UNIVERSITY, POMONA
ABSTRACT of PRESENTATION:
IEEE-USA has the responsibility to represent the views of its IEEE members before the US Congress in all policy-formation, budgetary, appropriation and regulatory matters.
As Congress debates funding for the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Standards and Technology, Departments of Defense and Energy as well as other federal research agencies, IEEE-USA has been working to promote agency programs that fund the engineering community. In particular, we have engaged with the Hill on issues including manufacturing programs, applied and basic energy research, and engineering and scientific programs at national labs. As Congress continues to debate funding for programs including ARPA-E, IEEE-USA’s Washington Office has sought to engage our members who can provide information about these vital science and technology programs to their representatives and senators. IEEE-USA’s Washington Office has also worked with the Hill to provide input into recent energy and NASA bills and this talk will provide an overview of both the funding legislation as well as the authorization and policy legislation under debate on Capitol Hill.
This is an opportunity for you, our Southern California members, to listen to and provide input to our IEEE-USA Washington DC based team.
OUR SPEAKER:
