On a brisk Friday afternoon on the California State University campus in San Bernardino (CSUSB), our IEEE Foothill Section technical professional members showed up on campus. They showed up to proctor the annual IEEE Xtreme global competition, which had three participating student teams from the California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB). These teams were composed of student members from the CSUSB
chapter of IEEE Women in Engineering (WiE) and the IEEE Student Branch. The IEEE Xtreme annual event pits student teams from around the world. This was a 24-hour competition that started at 5:00 pm on Friday and finished at 5:00 pm on Saturday.
By the end of the 24-hour competition, the surviving team was the team named “Six-Sevenn” (yes, that’s the way it is spelled), which was led by Miss Ashley Camacho. And our little CSUSB team had an impressive finish. In the end, they were ranked 8th in the Western Region (Region 6), 31st in the USA, and 2,800th out of 8,000 worldwide.
WINNER WINNER, CHICKEN DINNER – The Six-Sevenn Team:
Steven Menjiuor, VAISHALI Madoori, Ashley Camacho
For their marvelous showing and participation, each Six-Seven team member received $50.00 Amazon gift card. We want to give an immense appreciation to our proctors: Prof. David E. González, Dr. Osman Ceylan, and Professor Art Sutton. GREAT WORK
CSUSB!
