Message to IEEE:
MATHCOUNTS Riverside/San Bernardino Chapter competition on Feb. 11 at CBU is open to all school kids grader 6-8 in these two counties, public, private, and home school. When it first started at CBU back in 2009, we had 9 schools participating. By reaching out to schools in the community, we have been steadily increasing participation to over 20. This is still low in comparing with other counties, such as San Diego. Any effort from anyone will be greatly appreciated to increase the awareness and participation, such as through IEEE members. We are very flexible to work with the schools, teachers, parents, and students to attract them to this competition. These are our future engineers and you as a professional engineer and myself as an engineering college professor are having the same motivation to get more students involved. This year, I have sent invitation to about 50 schools. Feel free to forward my invitation to schools you have contact.
All participating students will be treated with a free lunch at the legendary high quality CBU cafeteria ADC. In fact, this is the only cost associated with the competition. We have eliminated all other costs and one of our coordinators donates every year the cost of trophies. We do fundraising from local professional societies to cover the student lunch cost.
