The December meeting of the IEEE Foothill Computer Society was held successfully at our DeVry University meeting location. Our speaker did an excellent job of introducing members and guests to Project Management fundamentals and how the AGILE Project Management methodology is utilized to better manage large projects. He is an expert on using AGILE on a daily basis. His slides are available if you were unable to attend.

Abstract
AGILE started as a way for Software Developers to better manage their projects, and Agile has become a popular way to get the job done. This presentation takes the fear out of using Agile and its various tools to address the common problem most projects have – finishing late, over budget, and at times not delivering what the customer asked for. Project Management is a very important topic to all technology developers and this presentation will help you build skills in this aspect of your career.
About the Speaker
Mr. González is an Electrical Engineer that has worked as an engineer for over 20-years and presently works for the US Navy and Department of Defense (DoD). He was born in Ibague, Colombia and is fluent in Spanish and English, but has lived in southern California most of his life. He attended of University of California, Pomona (aka, “Cal Poly Pomona”) graduating with a Bachelor’s degree of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE). He also attended the University of Redlands, Whitehead College of Business graduating with a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA). Additionally he has finished all coursework at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), Graduate School of Business and Public Policy (GSBPP) – Masters of Program Management Program (MSPM).

Mr. Gonzalez has aerospace industry experience – working for Rockwell Autonetics and Boeing Company as a Member of Technical Staff (MTS). During his tenure there he worked on various Air Force ICBM projects(Peacekeeper 7 Minuteman III) , Navy Submarine Programs (SSBN), and has consulted for the Spanish Armada. Mr. González presently works for Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), in Corona, Calfornia as a Systems Engineer for the Government-Industry Data Exchange Program (GIDEP). He is a Certified Microsoft Professional (MCP) and helps maintain computer servers and assists in providing GIDEP Parts Information in eXtensible Markup Language (XML) format and web design.
Past experience includes time as project manager for: NAVAIR F/A-18 Calibration Liaison Laboratory in Getafa, Spain, Calibration Logistics Element Manager (CLEM) for NAVAIR (PMA-260), Navy R&D XML Developer, and Chemical-Biological Armed Joint Services Technical metrology project manager.
He has received awards and letters of appreciation from NAVAIR, The Spanish Air Force, and Community Outreach Programs has been involved with in the past. Mr. González has also been quite an active member of the IEEE Foothill section, IEEE Region 6. His present position is of the vice-chair of the IEEE Foothill Section’s Computer Society. He has attended international conferences and congresses for IEEE and Project Management Institute (PMI). He has a passion for business, technology, computer programming, project management, as well as appreciation for other cultures, and international business and travel. Mr. González goal is to help make life easier in the technical area by simplifying life, and one of the ways to do this is through the use of AGILE development.
