On Sunday, April 26, 2026, members of the IEEE Foothill Student Branch at DeVry University participated in the City of STEM & LA Makers Faire held at Exposition Park in Los Angeles. This annual event is one of the largest STEM celebrations in Southern California, bringing together students, educators, and industry professionals for a day of learning and innovation.
As part of the outreach effort, the IEEE provided approximately 300 night-light kits and guided students in building simple electronic circuits. With the support of IEEE members rof. Alex Leung and Dr. Penn Wu, along with student branch volunteers, helped participants gain practical, hands-on experience with basic circuit design in an engaging and accessible way.
The activity attracted strong interest from attendees of all ages and offered an opportunity to connect classroom concepts with real-world applications. Events like City of STEM help inspire the next generation of engineers and technologists while promoting creativity, curiosity, and problem-solving skills.
Participation in this event reflects IEEE’s mission to advance technology for humanity, while strengthening student engagement, leadership, and community impact.
