This month, we selected three interesting articles from IEEE Spectrum highlighting recent developments in semiconductor research. Two explore novel device concepts that could enable more efficient AI through neuromorphic computing. The third examines the current state of CHIPS Act funding, while the manufacturing program is progressing well; there is raising concerns about the limited support for semiconductor R&D and the potential long-term impact on U.S. research and innovation.
Also, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the field-effect transistor, we’re pleased to host Professor Li-Jing Cheng of Oregon State University for a special EDS FET100 seminar on an exciting emerging topic: phototransistor memory.
